Because the competing technology is better positioned and is where they want to be later when the expected ATM/LAN sector revives. The thing about LAN repositioning is that the "lanscape" will have changed. This is part of an on-going strategy of complementarity over time vs over product line. It is like software. Do you want to sell an upgrade to an old product or a new product? The development expense for the new product makes total return lower even though you get higher up front revenues with a new product. The latter causes earnings to have greater variance and lower total. By the way I appreciate your input on the 19% instantaneous rate because I thought it had dropped to flat.
