So? I thought you said it yourself. x86 code is very misbehaved and not very well-geared towards Alpha-like techniques, even if you translate those x86 instructions into RISC-like instructions. (For example, x86 only has a small set of architected registers.) Plus, the Alpha is very dependent on ultra-high clock frequencies. So far, the K7 only reached 600 MHz in a demo, while the Pentium III got to 800 MHz w/out special cooling techniques.

You are severely fooling yourself if you think the K7 is anything like an Alpha. I still maintain that the K7 is nothing more than a P6-plus.
