This is the story that says the stock will keep going up with very little downward pressure.

quote.bloomberg.com
The following quote from this article on the settlement talks is very significant for the stock:

The trial had been scheduled to resume April 12, though Jackson today started a drug-conspiracy trial that is expected to last six weeks -- postponing the resumption until May.

What does this mean? Momentum investors in Microsoft (for stock split, earnings, and Office2000 launch) will not bail out early from the stock fearing that the bad press will be starting again. Not only will the selling not be taking place but we have the added positive news about settlement to give support to the stock going into earnings. The mutual funds managers who felt risk due to the trial and were planning to sell some stock into strength from the stock split run-up might now have second thoughts (especially the ones who already sold). Even the possibility of settlement will give a lot of support to the stock. The delay in restart of the trial will also put the aggressive selling plans of some big investors to moderate or stop altogether. Furthermore, all those sellers of PC shares gotta put their money somewhere especially if they are tech funds.---Microsoft looks good.
I am now extremely bullish right up until earnigs at the very least.

BTW I think those Nasdaq 100 options and trust units are creating temporary pressures on MSFT stock as it is the biggest component of the Nas100. Of course, these types of sales are very temporary.
