The Top Tech Trends

Gartner also cites four other technology trends as "coming
on strong in the next two to five years" including speech
recognition, IP telephony, Internet chat, and biometrics.
Gartner says these four technologies will influence areas
such as the virtual corporate enterprise, online shopping,
banking, and government-related industries.

Company Press Release

Lucent Technologies And ITXC Corp Announce 'ITXC-Ready' Gateways and Distribution Agreement

Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU - news) and ITXC Corp today announced that Lucent's PacketStar(TM) Internet Telephony System (ITS) release 2.2 will work off-the-shelf with ITXC's WWeXchange (SM) Service. In addition, the companies also announced a distribution pact with Catalyst Telecom to resell and service Lucent's PacketStar ITS globally. These announcements between Lucent and ITXC enable carriers, CLECs and ISPs to enter the IP telephony market quickly and start offering next-generation voice/data services while expanding their networks worldwide.

With Lucent 'ITXC-Ready' PacketStar ITS gateways, ITXC's affiliates can quickly get into the Internet telephony market to start offering value-added voice over IP services with a pre-configured Lucent PacketStar ITS release 2.2 gateway.

The agreement with Catalyst Telecom, a division of ScanSource, Inc. (NASDAQ:SCSC - news), enables ITXC's affiliates worldwide to buy Lucent's PacketStar ITS and get immediate support from Catalyst Telecom directly. For more information about Catalyst Telecom, please visit its Web site at www.catalysttelecom.com

Customers like Korea Telecom are asking for pre-configured VoIP solutions that will work out of the box with ITXC, so they can start exchanging traffic immediately,'' said Bill McFadden, general manager of voice over IP partnerships at Lucent Technologies. ''The Catalyst Telecom and 'ITXC-Ready' agreements signal Lucent's efforts to meet the time-sensitive demands of telcos and ISPs worldwide,'' said McFadden.

Lucent's 'ITXC-Ready' PacketStar ITS gives our affiliates unparalleled voice and fax quality, as if they would never know that they were making a call over the Internet,'' said Tom Evslin, chairman of ITXC.

Lucent's PacketStar ITS includes an 'ITXC-Ready' applications programming interface (API) that allows ITXC affiliates to operate private networks and immediately share traffic with the world's largest IP footprint. The affiliates also benefit because they can interoperate with VocalTec® Communications VocalTec Ensemble Architecture(TM) gateways.
