EMC-IBM news good for MTIC?? The relationship that IBM and EMC announced today could be extremely positive for MTIC because it involves "a broad cross-license between the two companies for storage and other technologies". When EMC bought MTI's patents there was a provision that if EMC settled or cross licensed with another company, MTIC will get half of that amount up to $20 million. In the event of a cross license there is a formula that would be worked out. IBM is certainly a company that I imagine MTI believed infringed on these patents. From the announcement today it does not look like any DD's will be effected but maybe EMLX and QLGC that supply the chips into EMC. EMC already buys IBM drives.
