Homo Sapiens, in any specific sense, could probably be considered an endangered species. If we were clever we would find some PC way to achieve all manner of systemic advantages for the dwindling minority of thinkers.

Someone who remembers Latin better than I do will have to come up with an appropriate taxonomy for the species which is replacing us.

I was virtually agreeing with you about sentient, at least about the self-awareness part, which i was distinguishing from nihil's 'take,' which was playful anyway, i think. Except i guess your use emphasized an intelligent awareness itself more than an intelligent awareness of feelings or sensations.
