Steven:

Have you ever read a book called "A Confederacy of Dunces", by John Kennedy Toole?

I haven't, but I'll put it on my list. That's a very interesting dialect. I'd enjoy seeing how it's done in print.

Jack

I have! It is a too-long book with really wonderful writing in it, and some of it is brilliantly funny. The story of John Kennedy Toole's life is terribly sad. I don't remember it very well, but I do remember that his book was rejected everywhere, and after he died, a suicide, his mother tried to get it published, and took it to somebody associated with a southern University Press (Walker Percy? Maybe not), an author who recognized its genius and managed, too late to save Toole, to get it published.
