While I do not disagree with your conclusion, you realize, of course, that GM owns Hughes (GMH), arch nemesis of LOR.

GM bought Hughes in the early 80's to offset the automotive cycles that their stock experiences. When SS/L was part of Ford, it was a drag because Ford just didn't understand the satellite business. Getting capital for needed growth was always an ordeal.

I can't say that Hughes' has the same experience with GM, though.

I don't think it is so crazy; with Hughes putting up the satellites and GM selling auto computer communication systems, why not offer a single package for home and auto?
