Global Crossing Unveils Cable Linking Europe, America, Asia

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Global Crossing Ltd. (GBLX) unveiled Atlantic Crossing 2, a new
undersea fiber optic cable linking the major cities of Europe with the Americas and Asia.

In a press release Wednesday, the company said the 2.5 terabits-per-second cable will be integrated
with the two cables of its Atlantic Crossing 1, which are already in service.

Atlantic Crossing 2 will have more than twice the capacity of any undersea cable in the world, the
company said.

AC-2 will add a third high-capacity cable across the Atlantic for the Global Crossing Network. The
company expects the new cable will cost about $500 million and will be in service in the first quarter
of 2001.

Global Crossing said it is in the final stages of selecting vendors to manufacture and build the new
system.

Global Crossing is building and operating a global IP-based fiber optic platform for data, voice, video
and Internet transmissions.
