I would think Compaq shareholders are too depressed to jump for anything, let alone joy.

Actually, with AOL's rate of gain, and factoring in Dell's rate of loss, they will be able to add Dell to their portfolio in short order also <gggg>. I had posted the other day that AOL is now approaching IBM in market cap. It seems that some on this thread are now substituting AOL for Dell as the 'make me a millionaire with a couple hundred shares stock'. Time will tell, but unless AOL becomes a TRILLION dollar market cap issue, I REALLY doubt it<ggg>. I have no position in CPQ since selling at 48, and also no position in Dell. Would like to get back into CPQ in the twenties though. I believe it will be a good trade at the very least.

Regards,
John

at this rate it can take over the world....get favored nations status...until the chinese learn the aol secrets....

amazing that in the world of internet companies a worthless company can buy a more worthless company with even more worthless inflated stock...

and xhard 5fer had to spend real hard dollars for tandem and dec...should of spun off alta vista a long time ago...why sell computers when you can have a search engine that generates no revenues but has a hell of a market cap...

america the land of opportunity....and as p.t.barnum said...there is one born every minute...

please advise if you have any ipo info for genetic drillers..mark has told me this is the wave of the future...or was that greasy biotechs?

Stockman -one has to wonder what Steve Case next prey is --I like the post on AOL buying CPQ to make free net PCs. Apple seems more its style --you know getting away from MSFT -INTL to prove he's king of the hill.
DELL makes PCs for large corp. that the retail\net is just a side show to real computing so DELL or somebody will make $ selling to these corp. aways. IMHO
