Robin & the Rest, It would have been great to discover that a natural compound, straight from the TCM library, without alteration, was a cancer-killer. Great, but really improbable. As I understand the matter, the tested compounds are changed by liver activity. It will take some further research to determine precisely where and how - but this is the sort of thing that is done by cancer researchers all the time. After this has been determined, the natural compound can be altered to prevent its being changed by the liver, thereby preserving its anti-tumor activity. That too is the sort of thing done by cancer researchers all the time. And there's this: if the natural compound, in its unaltered state, showed in vivo activity - well, this would be great for humankind, but not so good for Paracelsian (and its loyal stockholders): little or no patent protection possible. However, if a natural compound has to be altered in order to preserve its anti-tumor activity: there is the serious prospect of patent protection, and thus profitability. You are surely right, Robin, about BioFIT and the Ah-assay. These two product areas alone are sufficient for a thriving company. And then there's the large supply of andrographilide soon to hit the market. And other natural products to follow. Expect the BioFIT initiative to get national recognition from the Danielle Lin show, when the tape is broadcast early in April. Steady as she goes, mates.
