Nate,

You can put HTML tags in your replies to make things italic, bold, etc. (Try to stay away from underlining since many people confuse it with a link to somewhere else and get annoyed when they click on it and nothing happens!)

If I put

My <I>name</I> is <B>Nigel</B>. in my input, you see

My name is Nigel.

There are plenty of sites where these formatting tags are described; try cwru.edu for a list of the most common ones.
