The reason I sold all of our AOL stock several years ago (at a split adjusted price of about $3) (I am not kidding) was because when I received the proxy statement that year (in addition to the annual report), I was absolutely appalled at the number of AOL shares "lurking" out there from employee option plans.

My thought process had been : there's this many shares outstanding, let's assume X number more eventually due to options and other things, here's the market cap, here's where I think the company could be in a few years if things go well ...

Well, when I read the real number of options -- all my calculations were off by such a large factor that I felt I needed to sell immediately (and did).

For whatever reason, some of these high tech stocks (like AOL and Microsoft) seem able to get away with ridiculous additions to the number of shares outstanding, and NO ONE CARES !

I would suspect that Qualcomm's potential share increase is minimal compared to a lot of other companies.

Jon.

*Revenue graph* Since 1989 and this quarter is said by Irwin Jacobs to be a very, very good quarter. Loosely translated from conservative language, this means, "We have no idea what we are going to do with all the money rolling in".

Just for interest, here are revenues [$bn] each dot = $33m
1989__0.032.
1990__0.047..
1991__0.090...
1992__0.108...
1993__0.169.....
1994__0.271........
1995__0.386............
1996__0.813........................
1997__2.096............................................................
1998__3.347.....................................................................................................
1999__a very, very good quarter which means the graph zero needs resetting.
2000__

I realize I posted this a couple of months ago, but there might be some new readers interested in why Q! stock price is doing the same, having been attracted by the new highs nearing $100 per share. With all the options turning into real shares, we will still have plenty of profit to go around.

Valueman: That may be true, but you must keep in mind tha my projection for QCOM revenue model does not include anything from operations. Its a pure Tero model, i. e. QCOM is only good for its royalties. Once you add in revenue assumptions for operations, QCOM is worth significantly more than $600 by the year 2003.
