3COM TO SET UP 100% SUBSIDIARY, REGIONAL HUB IN INDIA

NEW DELHI - US networking firm 3Com will set up a wholly-owned unit within
the next two months and make India a logistics hub for its operations in
neighbouring countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, forging joint
ventures with Indian software firms. 3Com also intends to make India a
development hub for its global software operations. Country manager of 3Com Asia
Ltd, Atul Kunwar, said the Foreign Investment Promotion Board had approved
plans for the next three years but details had yet to be worked out.

HONG KONG, CHINA, 1999 MAR 23 (Newsbytes) -- By Staff, IT Daily.
3Com [NASDAQ:COMS], the computer center of the University of
Hong Kong (HKU) and Roctec Systems, have signed a letter of intent
for collaboration in a research project for building converged
networks.

3Com will supply networking technologies and equipment, the HKU
computer center has extensive experience in campus network application
development, and Roctec has integration expertise.

As part of the collaboration, 3Com will provide its CoreBuilderR3500,
SuperStackR II 9300 and SuperStack II 3900 switches for the QoS
(quality of service) testbed.

HKU today has a student population of more than 14,000. There are
almost 2,000 ongoing research projects being carried out throughout
the university in various disciplines.
