<<I believe that as advanced education spreads world wide, that different nationalities and mixes will appear in somewhat disproportionate numbers among the most successful practitioners.>>
Successful how?
<<Generations of selection for abstraction, scholarship, memorization, philosophy will concentrate whatever alleles there are associated with the particular trait, and it could work rather quickly.>>
Who, and when, was decided the selection should be for these mental characteristics?
Generations..quickly? Is this not contradicting?
<< I think it is clear that the human population is becoming more varied, with links being built between different subpopulations, rather than more divided.>>
Varied, yes. Divided, yes: making the selections above, making some arbitrarily successful as above, these divide us.
The problems of earth seem to me to be less the use of our tools over the environment, than our lack of willingness to cooperate with each other.
Sorry about seeming short and arguementative; I do appreciate your posts.

<<If I were seeking an arctic animal tracker, I would concentrate on the Inuit (even though few may do it today). >>

I knew an auto mechanic once who had worked in many places in the world, and had taught automotive repair in some of them, and he said that the best, quickest-learning mechanics he'd ever come across were Intuit. Isn't that surprising? That's why he told the story, it surprised him.
