I can't find the October 6 date confirmed by a second source (looked at cnet, zdnet, MercuryNews, and Seattle Times), but it's consistent with what's been said in the past. Major releases like that are often timed for big trade shows and October is still 1999. As for the delay in the consumer edition, that's also consistent with what's been reported before -- including the rumor that its development will be moved out of the Enterprise group and into the Consumer group.
