I was looking at a light composite hybrid car yesterday which was injection molded and had solar panels on the roof and hood. For most trips under 20 km the car runs entirely on solar storage. For longer trips the other part of the hybrid kicks in. These solar panels were the old style heavy glass plate variety. For most of our family's trips this vehicle would do just fine. I will try to relocate the site and post to the board. The market could be quite large for three of our technologies when you also consider the memory in the smart car of the future.

Michael-- Something didn't seem quite right with my post. Here is my boo boo:

Ummmm, 100 watts for 4 hours is .4 kwh, not 1.2kwh. Your 300 square foot roof array would therefore yield only about 4kwh per day-- I'm sure most homes with their 200 amp panels chew through a lot more than that. I won't tell you what my usage is, except to say that I've put better than a megawatt hour into the various EV's that live out in the garage according to a separate meter out there.
