PairGain Puts Telco Systems' EdgeLink100 Technology in HDSL Platform
Provides DS3 Access for HDSL Customers; Creates Powerful Access Solution for Deployment of Feature-Rich and Profitable T1 Services -
NORWOOD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 1999-- Telco Systems, a leader in edge of the network access solutions and a division of World Access, Inc. (NASDAQ:WAXS - news), announced today that its EdgeLink100(TM) technology is being integrated into PairGain®Technologies, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:PAIR - news) HDSL platform to provide DS3 connectivity for the growing bandwidth needs of service providers. Under the agreement, PairGain is private labeling Telco Systems' DS3 technology as part of its HiGain® product family. The combination creates an attractive T1 access solution for service providers looking to deploy feature-rich and profitable T1 services.

The Edgelink100 is the industry's smallest, most cost-efficient DS3 multiplexer on the market. A single, one rack (RU), fully redundant system, it provides DS1 to DS3 multiplexing on a single card. Integration of this multiplexing capability into the PairGain platform helps service providers take advantage of declining DS3 tariffs.
The HiGain HDSL platform has number one market share with over a million connections installed worldwide. The integration of these technologies represents a potential cost savings for central office equipment of up to $4,000 per shelf. PairGain rolled out the HiGain Wideband System 3190 platform with DS3 multiplexing in January 1999, with prices subject to quantity and configuration.
