Horizontal line at 0 is the signal line when using the histogram.

On lagging versus leading...

think about it the answer should be obvious if you understand the formula at all which is very important to doing TA. IMO...

MACD, as all ma or ma crossovers are laging indicators.

Sean is correct,you should understand what you are using. Look at 100 or so charts with MACD, note the entry/exits.
