First, I would reference the following post on one view, which is largely correct.

Qcom closed at Friday's low; too bad I bought some more at Friday's high. It's run up so fast, it was time for a breather. There may also be some concern that the press release regarding the patents indicates that Qcom and Ericy are not as close as some thought. There is a post on the Qcom thread (from Yahoo) that there is rumor that they have run into some roadblocks on some of the details. I think it is largely the markt and the fact that the stock has run up so some folks decided to take profits with the general computer, tech worries. For example, look at TXN; it dropped 9.75 to 91+. Only news, a broker said that TXN would not surprise with better than expected earnings report. In other words, TI is gonna have a great quarter but not beat the existing estimates for a great quarter. Figure it out! Of course, TI has run between something like 86 and 106 something like three times in the last month or six weeks. Is it gyrating on bad news, NO. Just market volatility.
