Cheers, Derek ************************************** SanDisk Supplies LG Electronics With 32MB MultiMediaCards to Bundle With New Secure Portable MP3 Audio Players SanDisk MultiMediaCard Offers Highest Capacity in World's Smallest Removable Flash Memory Card for Secure Portable Internet Audio Players HANNOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 1999-- SanDisk Corp. (Nasdaq:SNDK - news) announced today that it will supply 32MB MultiMediaCards to LG Electronics to bundle with the new AHA-A1F and AHA-A2F Secure Portable MP3 Audio Players. The announcement was made at the CeBIT trade show where SanDisk is exhibiting its products (SanDisk: Hall 13, Stand C-41). ''With the introduction of our new 32MB MultiMediaCard, SanDisk has established a substantial presence in meeting the demands for the MP3 Internet music player market,'' said Leon Malmed, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at SanDisk. ''We believe that LG Electronics' choice of incorporating SanDisk's removable MultiMediaCard capability suggests that it is an ideal solution for these MP3 portable players. With guaranteed forward/backward compatibility and copyright protection features, MultiMediaCard has the potential to become the industry standard memory card for the portable MP3 digital audio player market.'' The new pocket-sized portable digital audio players include two dedicated slots for MultiMediaCards. This provides the portable audio player with storage up to 64MB of near CD quality music for play back equivalent to about 60 minutes. Both models include a worldwide digital FM tuner and a full-function LCD remote controller. Based on a DOS/Windows file structure, both models are designed to provide standard file transfer. The AHA-A1F model also includes a digital voice memo recording option. This option allows the AHA-A1F to act as a digital voice recorder as well as a high quality music player. Malmed added that, ''the important feature to using the MultiMediaCard for portable music is that there is no skipping of music while jogging or other exercise activity as with portable Compact Disc players. The MultiMediaCard can also be re-written indefinitely resulting in absolutely no deterioration of the medium such as in the case of audio cassette tapes.'' Jeong Kwang Soo, executive vice president, VCR OBU Multimedia Division, LG Electronics, said, ''We chose SanDisk for their advanced flash memory technology achievements. Together with consumers, we demanded higher capacity and SanDisk was able to achieve this in the MultiMediaCard form factor. ''We believe that this market will explode and we are pleased that we have teamed with SanDisk, the market leader in flash memory for data, image and audio storage, to provide two secure portable music players which we believe will be extremely popular worldwide.''
