Interesting insight for all... Word has it that many of the earnings preannouncements that are being talked about WILL NOT HAPPEN. Merrill Lynch is finishing up its Telecom Conference this Friday and from what I understand, most, if not all, of the businesses presenting (e.g., LU) are providing much needed comfort with respect to the current quarter's performance. I am not saying that CPQ and IBM will not preannounce, but I am saying that I think plenty of businesses within the tech sector will do fine. These comments were made to analysts, apparantly, and keep in mind that most of these companies are about to enter their quite periods. But this feedback is usually kept in house on the Street and is primarily shared with select, large institutional accounts. So all is not as bad as it seems... Teflon
