Three years in tech is like an eternity. My advice , get as close to whole on this one and move on. Those holders waiting for the 20's and up I fear will be waiting forever as I just do not see the catalyst for Cabletron to take on Nortel Networks, Cisco, and Lucent in the data and telecom networking business and with 3com on the edge I just do not see much hope. Its easy for me to say I know as I am in under $10 but it is better to just cut and run rather than hang on for three years hoping only to see the stock at $9.50 and still talking about a "turn around" and the challenges ahead, and that they are going it alone and not interested in a merger...just random thoughts on this grey day in Cabletron and the techs ...

Doug,

The cautionary statements about the next Q are what hit the stock hard. As far as the time it will take "to get up to speed to contend with the #1 in network services", I don't think that really should bother anyone since that is a new business segment for CS. In fact, that timetable is probably pretty optimistic. All we need to see the stock price turn is a recovery in their core business. They are still selling $345 million / quarter in networking hardware/software and if they can streamline operations to get a decent profit on that, we should be ok. If they can become #1 in network services in three years (which is probably pure fantasy) that's gravy.
