Yeah, heard most of the greats of the late 30's and 40's. Used to usher the tours. My favorite pianist today is an old college friend -- Charles Rosen -- because he is one of the most intelligent men on earth today. His books on romanticism are definitive.

Penni, just for people like you there is a series of recordings on a Steinway reproducing piano of some of the greatest pianists [via piano rolls], including Paderwski, Busoni, Cherkassky, Grieg, Prokofiev, etc. It was produced by Madrigal Audio Laboratories and called Earwitness Transcriptions: madrigal.com Sorry, I don't see any numbers on the jewel case.
