LG, I wouldn't discard the idea of using swing similarities quite so quickly. One advantage of the Swing Machine is that is shows you a range of close matches to give you an idea of how well they line up. In this case, the three best projections are in close agreement. This technique is really not much different that using FFT, or projecting swings by counting days from extremes, and some people swear by those techniques.
