"Americans die, then people will care A LOT!"

don't much agree. how much time do we spend talking about the mogo disaster???

how many of us know the names of the 2 green berets who were awarded the medal of honor posthumously for that one? or even that 2 got the award.

we don't get hung up on this stuff.....bj's in the white house? that is exciting. now that can bring the whole country to a standstill.

>>Yes you are right, but if it becomes protracted and Americans die, then
people will care A LOT! Also, once we are in, we will not pull out until
we "succeed", however we define "success".<<

That's why "quagmire" seems appropriate. Of course I don't believe that Americans have the stomach for any protracted military engagement. Milosovich knows this.... Clinton will look like more of a fool than he already does after this (if such were possible)

MileHigh,

re: Success. It's easy. Like Vietnam, we just declare victory and leave.

Sometimes (very, very, very, very rarely, but sometimes) I think the assassination idea might not be so bad. It would save a lot (thousands? millions?) of lives on both sides if we could just focus on the Saddams, the Hitlers, the Milosovichs.

But it would open too big a can of worms, I suppose.
