Did Ya Get it while listening to Taxin?ROTFLMAO BIGBIGBIGTIME Radio Host Taxin Agrees to Settle SEC Stock-Touting Allegation Washington, March 23 (Bloomberg) -- Radio host Edward Taxin and the Taxin Network agreed to pay $30,000 in penalties to settle charges of unlawfully touting securities on the Internet and airwaves. Taxin, who hosts the Financial Hour syndicated radio program and publishes an Internet newsletter called the Investor's Chronicle, agreed to settle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission without admitting or denying the SEC charges. Neither Taxin nor his lawyer could be reached for comment. SEC officials said Taxin's business operations are in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. The SEC alleged that the Taxin Network had agreements from which he received at least $200,000 in cash or stock for making ''rosy predictions'' about small company stocks. The companies, according to the SEC, were: Envoy Communications Group Inc., PTC Group Inc.; Sungold Gaming International Inc., Telepad Corp., VentureTech Inc., and Wolf Industries Inc. Neither Taxin nor the network adequately disclosed that Taxin was getting compensation, the SEC said. The commission's action against Taxin was part of a crackdown on alleged Internet schemes to falsely promote small stocks and defraud investors. It is not new, however, for the commission to pursue cases radio hosts. National radio hosts Jerome Wenger and Michael Cardascia also have been cited in SEC cases growing from on-air stock promotions. Taxin's radio show is broadcast weekly by stations in Seattle; Cleveland; Los Angeles; New Orleans; Portland, Oregon; and West Palm Beach, Florida, according to Taxin's Web site. The show also is broadcast by a network based in Palm Springs, California, that targets national programs to gays and lesbians. The final judgment was entered by U.S. District Judge Kimba M. Wood in New York. 17:40:51 03/23/1999 For more stories from Bloomberg News, click here. (C) Copyright 1999 Bloomberg L.P.
