Some of the computer and communications equipment stocks will benefit by what hurts others: increased vitality in Asia that will drive imports into a better balance but also fuel some rise in prices that will hurt importers. Some of the stocks that will do well will be those that will benefit by communications projects that will now move forward. Lucent is a fine company - I shorted it and then owned it last year. Next year should see good growth in the networking sector as billions get turned from Y2K to IS infrastructure. There will be lots of good opportunities if you know what to pick.

Lu & CSCO has not MOVED for almost 3 months. I sold both of them off in Dec for tax reasons. Then I bought calls for CSCO and sold puts on LU in Jan. Except for the decline in their time value, the price is exactly the same ! I'd say that is equivalent of a big fall - loss of opportunity....
