Primakov Postpones Trip To U.S. Over Kosovo Reuters March 23, 1999 Tuesday March 23 2:17 PM ET Primakov Postpones Trip To U.S. Over Kosovo WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States said Tuesday that Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov has postponed his trip to Washington because of impending NATO military action in Kosovo. Vice President Al Gore received the news in a telephone call with Primakov, the White House and State Department announced. State Department spokesman James Rubin said the decision was made by Primakov, who was en route to Washington. Primakov's visit was ''not on. It's off. Suspended. Postponed,'' Rubin told reporters. In recent days, U.S. officials had insisted that the talks between Gore and Primakov scheduled for this week could go forward easily despite Russian differences with the United States over potential NATO military action in Kosovo.
