another possible wildcatting area play? - Kakwa Area in NW Alberta. To date some decent liquid rich gas finds (appear to be Wabamun profile) have occured. Chevron with Berkley & Newport had a "major gas discovery" about a year ago in the general Kakwa/Musreau area, Petromet has had successes in region and currently has tighthole status on some projects, Alberta Energy has a well currently drilling at 15-33-61-5 W6M and there's speculation that some good reserves may be proved up. Other areas which have recently proved good would possibly include Petro-Canada's success at Wildcat Hills (16-28-28-7 W5M), Canadian Hunter's Colt area discovery at 14-36-58-24 W5M and possibly Husky Oil's rumoured Red River formation play in SE Sask. near Ceylon, approx. 10 townships west of Midale.

Kerm,

First off, I would like to thank you for all the diligent work you do on your daily new letter. It amazes me every day that you have the time and energy to compile such a detailed and lengthy piece.
Can you give me any specific opinion on the oil and gas activity in
the Turner Valley in Alberta with Bearcat/Stp Oil and their various
partners? It seems like the area gets absolutely zero interest from
brokers and news letters, even though, reported testing shows good things, equal to, or better than many other projects that are getting
attention. What's your thoughts?...........Tom

Hi Kerm. Re POE:VSE - I heard a very strong rumor today that POE-VSE (Pan Ocean Explorations) will announce a JV with Mobil on an offshore Newfoundland well next week. I've heard the name York Harbor mentioned, about 20 km away from Shoal Point where Pan-Canadian, Hunt and Mobil have just spudded their third well and started drilling their fourth. In the bit of DD I've been able to do I know these wells cost about $10M each. Jack Singer, one of the wealthiest people in Canada, is the Chairman of the Board of POE. His wealth was earned in the Alberta oilpatch. There aren't many shares out in POE (approx. 5.5M) so this looks like an unusually good opportunity for a junior. The deal looks like it's 60-40, with Mobil carrying the larger end. I would appreciate any comments on the promise of the area or any other pertinent info as I'm relatively ignorant in oil and gas. I bought some today because it sounds really good to me but I'm running a bit blind.
