Glenn -- <You mean economically surpass Japan?> Nope, just blow the doors off of the rest of Asia by getting out of the way of the net. Asia fears the free flow of information -- nowhere more than the Chinese. Singapore? Vietnam? Even Japan? Can't face it yet. But to the surprise of a lot of people, China has decided to gamble that the net will revolutionize Asia -- and they want to lead the parade. A combination of US and Asian companies are going to clean up -- including MSFT(which I am betting against for a few days), but more importantly, Softbank. BTW, met with Bellsouth in Beijing -- might want to buy that dip.
