*OT* Finite space.

There is lots of good discussion of the nature of the universe (or universes) in Gregory Benford's novels. "Timescape" and "Cosm" speak directly to this.

"Timescape" was written about twenty years ago and is usually available. "Cosm" has just come out in paperback.

Besides writing excellent science fiction novels, he is a physics professor at UC Irvine, so he always gets the science right. He also has the rare ability to make it clear and understandable to non-technical people like me.

I highly recommend everything Benford has ever written. IMHO, he's right up there in the SF pantheon with Asimov, Clarke, and Heinlein.
