Ericsson signs deal with Canada's BridgePoint
STOCKHOLM, March 23 (Reuters) - Swedish telecoms group Ericsson said on Tuesday it had signed a five-year agreement with Canada's BridgePoint which was initially worth more than $65 million.

''Ericsson will provide IP (Internet Protocol), data networking and AXE solutions to BridgePoint's operations in Canada and worldwide,'' Ericsson said in a statement.

The frame agreement initially covered delivery of Ericsson's IP Telephony system, covering IPT and AXE solutions, data networking projects and related services, Ericsson said.

An additional agreement had also been signed which provided Ericsson's customers with opportunities to team up with BridgePoint to enter markets where demands did not justify investments, by providing shared switched facilities, it said.

''Ericsson's IP telephony products have wide commercial deployment, and AXE is the world's most widely deployed International Gateway switch,'' BridgePoint Chief Executive Officer Rene Arbic said.

Ericsson shares closed four crowns higher at 190 in a generally negative market.
