Is there any program available that he can buy that we can use to transfer his data to my hardrive? I would then rebuild his software system and reinstall his data. We cannot currently access the explorer so coping files to a disk directly does not seem possible.

Does the machine boot? If the machine boots and you can install software perhaps a program like Laplink would work for the transfer.

Why not install his harddrive in your computer as a second drive? Then copy the data files to your harddrive.

Thruston,

you can physically install the drive in a working machine and copy the data.

you can use a network boot floppy to do this if you have a network.

use zip/jaz or other removable media parallel port drives...

or you can use some file transfer software for Dos like Carbon Copy, Pc Anywhere or LapLink to Move the Data....

Option 1 is definetly the fatest and is really not as hard as it may sound.

lemme know if these suit your needs...
