It seems many folks are stressed out about the share price and trying to time that last 10 point drop to buy. We all need to buy and just sit back and relax. I am only 30, but have lost enough money in options, BB/OTC issues, buying then selling for a quick buck (EBAY comes to mind recently), etc. Here is some data to consider:

AOL:
Market Capitalization $108.5B
Shares Outstanding 934.0M
Float 681.8M
Splits: 25-Nov-94 [2:1], 28-Apr-95 [2:1], 29-Nov-95 [2:1], 17-Mar-98 [2:1], 18-Nov-98 [2:1], 23-Feb-99 [2:1]

ATHM:
Market Capitalization $15.5B
Shares Outstanding 124.4M
Float 32.3M
Splits: none

CMGI:
Market Capitalization $8.63B
Shares Outstanding 46.7M
Float 29.9M
Splits: 3-Apr-95 [3:2], 5-Feb-96 [2:1], 12-May-98 [2:1], 12-Jan-99 [2:1]

DCLK:
Market Capitalization $3.10B
Shares Outstanding 19.6M
Float 8.10M
Splits: none

Just a few examples of buy and hold strategy I am resolving to. Are these companies going to be the leaders in 5 years? You bet! Look at AOL. Just 10 shares purchased an held in 1994 would be equal to 640 shares (OUCH!). Just some thoughts.

Why did you buy in to ATHM???

I don't remember.

To make money.

Actually, I put together an "tornado" basket of internet end-user connection stocks which included ATHM, UNPH, CNXT, BRCM, PMCS. I should have bought BCST, too, but ran out of money. I have had UNPH since August 98 and it caused me to look around and listen a bit more. I reckon we are at the beginning of an explosion of fiber and broadband purchases for internet connection.
