It's possible. China froze CDMA development almost totally between 1997-1999, went on a massive GSM expansion binge and built up a domestic industry of both GSM handset and network manufacturing. Then, when USA threatens China with trade sanctions they suddenly realize that it's in their best interest to spend some on CDMA, too. It sure sounds like a ringing endorsement for CDMA - buy some or USA will push your economy into recession by restricting your exports.

It may be tempting to slap around Asian governments when they are at their weakest - China's GDP growth is slated to slow down to 5% this year and they can't afford trade friction. But ultimately you get what you give, Goren. Sledgehammer tactics seldom work in the long run... and Asian countries tend to have long memories.
