Ron,

Yes, eventually the PRC gov will reform itself, hopefully peacefully. As you see, there's been policy changes during transition of leaderships. The only problem is they are getting isolated from the western society. I don't think the PRC gov is not open-minded, and I also don't think they want to get into any kind of cold war with other countries. Actually, it's really hard to regard the current PRC gov as communists - quite different from the one in the past. But the one in current North Korea really post a threat to other countries - the ideology of that heart-and-sole leader is incredibly warlike. There's been report recently about North Korean trying to set up some missle sites near the Chinese border, and the PRC gov is complaining about it.

Regarding the Chinese scientist in Los Almos Lab, it's really hard to say who is right and wrong. At least, there's a nasty American politics involved. Both parties are just blaming each other for not securing the lab fully. The only victim here is the Asian like me. In return, the PRC gov could have blamed the US business firms in China for the same thing. But, I think the PRC gov want to trade more with the US. Their market is quite widely opened and full of opportunity to make money. All in all, paranoia hurts.
