It was only fall of 1995 when the analysts were saying the 24 month boom-and-bust cycle was a thing of the past for semiconductors. Fidelity funds flooded Barron's and other newspapers with recommendations of the semiconductor stocks. We've had two cycles since. They did the same crap in the fall of 1997 with the oil service stocks. They put out articles in the NY Times, Washington Post, and other papers about the perpetual oil boom.
