The impact of Microsoft's possible break up would be felt by Inprise. Inprise (Borland) always had better language products than Microsoft. Long before Netscape became a victim of Microsoft's advantage of owning the operating system, Borland suffered consistently for the same reason. How many software project managers said "Yes, I like Borland better, but Microsoft has the operating system..."

If Microsoft language division becames a separate company, then VC++ won't compete as well against BCB++.
