[ E*Trade and DELL ]

Have you heard all the talk in the newspapers about trades at the online brokerages just not executing? Well, it seems that those newspaper stories have finally hit home.

About 7:00 am (PST) this morning, I placed a Market Order to purchase DELL, then quoted at 35 13/16 at the ASK. I came back later, and lo and behold, I got a message that my order was cancelled!!

(Expletives cross my mind at that point--feel free to imagine.)

Hmm. Well, by this time, DELL had escaped my buy price, and what a buy price it would have been too. In the past 12 months, there have been only four entry points signaled by my technical indicators for a reversal-entry into DELL:

1. The close of 8/31/98
2. The Hammer close of 10/8/98
3. The close of 2/19/99, and
4. The close of 3/23/99.

It has been suggested by my broker co-worker to file a complaint with the Nasdaq and the SEC. We'll see what happens.
