That means Corel's board lacks firepower and experience, and it doesn't have its interests aligned with those of the shareholders. The result: Board members aren't agitating for Mr. Cowpland's departure. Instead, the Corel board consistently lets the bratty Mr. Cowpland off without so much as a scolding. How bratty is he? After his company announced its financial debacle this past Wednesday, Mr. Cowpland couldn't be bothered to attend the subsequent teleconference. (He was, according to reports, vacationing in Florida.)
