I just clicked on that link for Hyperion's website
and they claim that they have audited results of kicking
Oracle's butt (my word:)...Is this true? Take a look below
and then go to their site...This is unbelievable!

Hyperion Essbase Obliterates All Benchmark Records

Hyperion Essbase is the fastest, most scalable and most
deployable OLAP server.

On a Sun Enterprise 450 server with the Sun Solaris
Unix operating environment, Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server 5
completed the APB-1 OLAP benchmark two times faster than
Oracle Express OLAP Server. Hyperion Essbase also completed
the entire APB-1 OLAP benchmark six times faster than Oracle
Express on identical Windows NT servers. These results
confirm that Hyperion Essbase is the fastest, most scalable
and most deployable OLAP server on all platforms.

Hyperion Essbase delivered record-breaking audited results
in all three phases of the OLAP benchmark (historical data
load, incremental data load, and 250,000 multi-user queries)
for both the 0.1 percent and 5.0 percent data density
volumes specified by the benchmark. The 5.0 percent data
density OLAP benchmark loads 50 times more raw data than
the 0.1 percent data density benchmark. With record-setting
results for both data densities, the benchmark results
demonstrate that Hyperion Essbase delivers speed-of-thought
query performance regardless of data volume.

At 0.1 percent data density, Hyperion Essbase delivered a
record audited AQM (analytical queries per minute) rating of
16,221, 101 percent higher than the Oracle Express rating
of 8,073. This is the highest audited AQM rating ever
reported for the APB-1 OLAP benchmark. At 5.0 percent data
density, Hyperion Essbase completed the OLAP benchmark
98% faster than Oracle Express, finishing nearly two hours
before Oracle Express completed just the incremental data
load.

Key Findings

-Hyperion Essbase is Faster than Oracle Express

-Hyperion Essbase performed 101% faster than Oracle Express
for the 0.1% data density OLAP benchmark, and 98% faster
for the 5.0% data density OLAP benchmark.

-Hyperion Essbase OLAP server completed the incremental
data load and query phases of the OLAP benchmarks in One
hour, 27 minutes—two times faster than Oracle Express.

-Hyperion Essbase completed the OLAP benchmark nearly two
hours before Oracle Express finished the incremental data
load alone.

-Hyperion Essbase used 46 percent less disk space than
Oracle Express to store the same data.
