Gerald,I think you give the crowd too much credit. I'd bet most people couldn't tell you the classification (large growth, small cap value, etc) of the funds they own unless it's in the name. They buy the one that was hot last year.

Gerald, I agree with that assessment. Index funds did great. Not only that the tech funds did even better. I would bet most have MSFT near the top or the top in their holding especially if they are large cap funds. (we know the Index has MSFT at the top)
So when the "crowd" switches to these types of funds, they will see MSFT at the top. Even if they have only $500 in a mutual fund, it could be all that they require. I realize that i am trying to rationalize someone that is difficult but that is how i feel. IMHO, it is the reason MSFT still has a lot of support among the public considering their dismal courtroom performance. Of course I could be way off base.
