Somebody should wake up Ellison.

"Just as televisions are becoming computers, computers are starting to become televisions with different displays. Apple has a great chance of being the best name in digital appliances," like Sony in the analog electronics business, he said.

The PlayStation is 26% of Sony's revenue and is a digital device. Their revenue is already higher than Apple's, thereby replacing them as the main alternative to the PC architecture.

In the future, Microsoft's most popular operating system should be Windows CE, not Windows NT.

The 3Com PalmPilot has replaced WinCE and the Apple Newton as the main mass market appliance, relegating all others to niches. Apple loses once again!

In the meantime, WinNT is doubling revenues each year and Microsoft has passed Intel as the most profitable technology company.

Hi Ahmad,
I think the key words in Jack's and my forecasts were "significant revenues" Clearly home appliance connectivity is not going to produce "significant" revenues within the next year or so. My point to Jack however, was that "first to market" will gain a significant advantage over others, in the long term.
