AOL , Sun to detail alliance plans

NEW YORK, March 26 (Reuters) - America Online Inc .and Sun Microsystems Inc . said Friday that early next week they plan to unveil details of their strategic alliance to develop corporate Internet software and and electronic commerce products.

At a news conference to be held in New York Tuesday morning, executives from America Online, Sun Microsystems and the alliance team the two companies have formed will discuss their plans for the venture, first announced in November of last year.

The AOL-Sun alliance is the outgrowth of a three-way deal in which America Online acquired Netscape Communications Corp. earlier this week and struck a side deal with Sun. The pact involves AOL buying Sun computers and Sun working closely with AOL's new Netscape unit to develop corporate Internet and electronic commerce software products.
