I don't know how it affects DELL specifically. Sometimes I just post information without offering my analysis of it. It's open to interpretation and should be used in conjunction with other information, such as the posting by another here on what the DELL pres of Asia/pacific region had to say about the early growth figures for DELL (impressive at first reading) and his expectations for the next three years.

As for your comment about Dell having an assembly plant in China, please review the following statement from the release:

Foreign-branded computers, including both imports and local production, took a smaller share of the Chinese market last year, representing 39 percent of sales compared to 48 percent in 1997, Fok said."(emphasis added)
