Steve,

1. My observation about the graph was simply that, an observation.
I believe much more in A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Malkiel Burton than I ever could in TA. But I wouldn't mortgage the farm to buy NVLS today.

2. $300 PC comes without a floppy, without a monitor, and generally is deficient in Software, Hardware, Cache and expandability. However, I fully accept the point that powerful PCs have become cheaper and will continue to do so.

3. Katherine Derbyshire (frequent poster on the Semi - blood in the streets thread; and editor of Semiconductor Online) may be able to give you the market breakdown or point you in the right direction.

I don't have current info, but I believe DRAM makers are about 40% of the semi equipment market and most of their output goes to the PC makers. I have no idea what percent of logic goes to the PC makers; or what percent of ASIC, Flash, MCUs, etc.

As a wild assed guess, I suspect that the PC (including Apples, UNIX, etc.) is in the order of 75% or more of unit or $ volume.

Ian.
