Quincy: I actually use Vodafone (with an F) and I get charged around under 20 cents per minute peak time, and on weekends I can get it for 3 cents per minute (another operator gives it free for local). Not sure where you get your pricing info from.

Some operators and depending on what tariff structure you are on do charge up to 50 cents (but that is usually pre-pay and even that is down to 7.5 cents per minute here in the UK).
