is this why the Nikkei index is in dive mode? I thought it would remain high till month end. I was wondering if Gov of J had bought index options up till Mar 19? And now the support is gone?

Good reasoning. I think it is the Japanese companies who have the debt and the Japanese consumers have the savings. Therefore, as you point out, tax cuts is one half of the equation.
