Yes, yes, I know. I was trying to KISS. For the blanks I should have said use the plastic wad cup. I used to make 12 ga blanks using cornmeal for shot. The AA powder for 1oz 12 ga loads worked. If I had been using DuPont 4756 I doubt it would have worked. A tip here. Black powder will explode even if it is in a pile. Black powder factories are built with very weak walls so they blow out in case the dust explodes. Smokeless needs to build pressure. I remember loading 12 ga shells and having a booboo. Dump the powder in the ashtray and light with the cigarette as people are running for the doors. The black powder substitutes are like this I have heard.
